Conserved RGF1 peptide signaling regulates root meristem development through ROS in Arabidopsis and rice
Our study identifies OsRGF1-1 as the rice counterpart of Arabidopsis RGF1. Rice Osrgf1-1 mutants have shorter seminal roots, smaller root meristems and less superoxide. The OsRGF1-1 peptide reverses these defects and acts through the conserved RGF receptors, showing for the first time that the RGF1–receptor–ROS module controlling root meristem development is shared between dicots and monocots.
